Beautiful and unusual Gustavian style mirror dating to the early 19th century Empire period. The ornate crest shows a fantastical scene where two regal griffins flank an urn. Whimsical botanical motifs, like scrolling acanthus leaves and rosette medallions, add a delightful Swedish twist to an otherwise classic piece inspired by the French Empire style. The pine wood frame is painted white for an overall light and airy effect. This full sized mirror retains the original antique glass, which is in wonderful condition. Sweden, circa 1810.
