We don’t always include content about our personal lives within the Modern Antiquarian story but we both love antiques, design, and creating the perfect space to live in. We are so inspired that this seemed like the perfect opportunity to start sharing our personal styles with you all just a bit more!
A home office is something I have been yearning for in my living space! The way we operate gives us the flexibility of working from home and I personally thrive with a permanent workspace. My goal was to create a place where I can make the most of the few desk days that we get since we're often women on the go!
Functionality is easy to achieve, but I am obsessed with curating the perfect space so I had a bit of work to do! I am 99.999% positive I will continue tweaking this space throughout the duration of my 2 year lease, but I love the way everything has come together.
It has been so nice to spread out in a new space. While NYC living absolutely has its perks, space is not one of them!
The space is really defined by a Kittinger Buffalo mahogany desk that I inherited from my parents. My dad actually has a matching one in his home office. Like father, like daughter :)
Above my desk I mounted a TV, which will double as a second monitor on those big inventory management days. I also positioned it so I can enjoy some television from bed on those lazy weekend days! I decided to create a gallery wall around the TV so it would blend a bit better and I can display artwork for when I really want to impress my guests!
As I am in the antiques business, I have amassed quite a collection of furniture over the years and my little needlepoint stool and small side table now live on either side of the desk. I have an addiction to cute things! Sorry, not sorry :)
Storage is uber important for small spaces so I placed a tall bookshelf adjacent to the desk to store my documents, art supplies, cameras, and my many, many books.
We’ll be back next week, but until then, tune in onInstagramand you might get some sneak peeks of other spaces in my home!
